Ken Burk, Principal

Ken Burk

Ken Burk has over 30 years of experience working in engineering, construction and industrial companies. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Troy University and received his MBA from Pepperdine University.

Ken began his career at Blount International, where he progressed through the ranks as a financial analyst to Controller of a building contractor acquired in Los Angeles, California. A succession opportunity surfaced at Tutor-Saliba Corporation that gave Ken an opportunity, at the age of 29, to be Chief Financial Officer of this larger construction company.

After a number of years in finance, the opportunity to join Railworks as their Chief Operating Officer gave Ken his first full P&L responsibility. Railworks was a “roll up” of rail service and supplier companies and provided a platform to be heavily involved in acquisition and integration. In 2001, Union Switch & Signal hired Ken to be their President and CEO. The experience at Union Switch & Signal was described as the best experience and time in his career. He led the company to more stability and growth and was credited with leading the delivery of the first driverless train control system in Europe and sold one of the largest dispatching and route planning software systems to a large freight railroad company.

In 2007, Tutor recruited Ken to be CFO of Perini Corporation and immediately he got involved in the merger of Perini and Tutor-Saliba. Following four years of building the business through integration and follow on acquisitions, he was asked to be CEO of the Specialty Group. This group was comprised of six companies acquired over the previous eighteen months. In 2013, Jacobs recruited Ken to be their Senior Vice President in charge of Global Safety, Quality and Alliances. The role was one of the biggest challenges of his career and it was also the most rewarding having success in bringing more risk competency and alignment around quality in project delivery.

In June 2018, Ken became CEO of McCarl’s LLC and affiliates, a 75 year old company that performs industrial process piping and mechanical construction, fabrication, technical and maintenance services to clients in chemicals, metals and mining, oil and gas and power.  In December 2018, he became the principal owner of McCarl’s LLC.
